Manjari Sharma

Darshan is a series of elaborately orchestrated photographic representations of 9 Hindu Deities. Hindu Gods and Goddesses have been historically painted and drawn, but rarely depicted through fine art photography. Sharma has recently returned from India with 5 completed images: Lord Shiva, Maa Durga, Lord Ganesha, Maa Laxmi, and Lord Hanuman. Sparing no detail, the making of Darshan has included exhaustive research and a team of 35 Indian craftsman to create props, sets, prosthetics, make up, costumes and jewelry. Sharma is scheduled to return to India in the spring of 2013 to finish the final 4 images: Lord Vishnu, Maa Saraswati, Lord Brahma and Maa Kali.
